Response to Various Opinions on Water Consumption

This is a response to some of the opinions put forth by others, regarding the source of water and which water we should drink. In particular, I am responding to those in the raw food movement. I’ve been hearing and reading a lot about water from various individuals and I find myself in profound disagreement with some of them.

I am a raw foodist who believes we all should ideally be on a 100% raw food diet. There are many opinions regarding which foods we should consume and in what quantities and I can see that these arguments will continue for some time without a conclusive agreement amongst raw food “experts”. But water is a different matter. There is water that should be consumed and water that should not be consumed except in emergencies. Let me clarify which is which.

My Background in Water

I have been in the bottled water business since 1993 and have sold and promoted ionized water since 1996. I am a Certified Water Facility Operator in the state of Michigan (S5, D5). My father had a doctorate from MIT in Environmental Engineering, taught at Michigan State University for 15 years and ran his own engineering company for 17 years designing municipal water treatment and purification plants throughout mid-Michigan. He taught me most of what I know about water and its various sources.

Wild Springs

I have heard the term “Wild Spring” used lately, which apparently refers to a spring that occurs naturally. This is a term that has been invented out of thin air and now is beginning to be used as a term of reference. There are springs that have been built and developed where there was no spring before, but they do not differ from naturally occurring springs. Spring water is ground water that has been naturally pushed to the surface, usually from deep within the earth, but not always. Water that comes from springs has been exposed to pollution in the first 3 – 5 feet of the soil where it is most concentrated. It is best to draw the water you drink directly from the source from a deep well at least 100 feet down. It is best to draw water from this depth to avoid the pollution that is most highly concentrated in the first few feet of soil.

Springs are also prone to bacterial contamination since bacteria counts are highest in the first 3 feet of soil. Bacterial counts are even higher in surface water such as that found in lakes, rivers and streams.

Other kinds of water are artesian and mineral water. Artesian water is ground water usually below 100 feet that has been forced toward the surface by pressure. Artesian is not an indicator of quality, although it tends to be good quality water.

Water Filtration

I have heard some talk that suggests spring water should not be filtered and I could not disagree with that notion more. I personally don’t drink any water that hasn’t flowed through a carbon filter, preferably a one micron block carbon filter. They remove chlorine and particles from the water down to one micron. There are other filters with various media that can remove iron, fluoride, sulfur and other undesirable elements in water.

I heard one “health guru” state that if he couldn’t drink spring water that they would go days without drinking water until they could get some. This is an absurd statement, especially considering that finding a natural spring is quite difficult. In fact, the chances of finding a natural spring and collecting water from it are next to impossible. I personally am not aware of any natural springs that are open to the public in the state of Michigan. So where will we all go to find our natural spring water? It’s a completely impractical idea for the average person to even considering doing on a regular basis. And to go days without drinking water would be extremely detrimental to your health, therefore I am very much opposed to the Russian concept of dry fasting, that of eating or drinking nothing at all for days at a time.

Consuming Tap Water

I often hear it said that tap water (municipal or city water) should never be consumed under any circumstances. I do not agree with this notion at all. Most tap water can be consumed if it is properly filtered through an adequate carbon and/or KDF filter. Again, I recommend a 1 micron activated carbon filter for this. This removes the chlorine that is found in most tap water. For tap water that contains chloramines instead of chlorine to disinfect I recommend a carbon/KDF filter, since KDF is slightly more effective at removing chloramines than carbon.

I also recommend everyone use a KDF filter to remove chlorine and/or chloramines for your shower or bathtub. If you don’t, then you are absorbing these chemicals into your body through your skin and in your lungs, which is extremely dangerous since they are carcinogens. Carbon will not remove chlorine from hot water.

Pharmaceuticals and Caffeine in ground water

Larger cities quietly started recycling their water in recent years. This policy was kept quiet and not published in any of the trade magazines. Coconut shell carbon is the most effective way to filter out pharmaceuticals, but it certainly won’t get all of them.

The best way to remove anything and everything from your water source, including pharmaceuticals (even caffeine, which is any extremely small molecule), is with reverse osmosis (RO). This purifies the water, meaning it removes everything except the water molecules themselves so you end up with pure water. Distillation achieves the same results. This water should not be consumed since it is acidic, leaches minerals from the body and does not hydrate the body’s cells or tissue. If water is purified then it must be re-mineralized if you wish to consume it. Re-mineralization also makes the water more hydrating, less acidic and it will not leach minerals from the body.

Is water conscious?

I have heard it stated that water is conscious, perhaps even more so than Buddha and Jesus. This is one of the most ridiculous notions I’ve ever heard regarding water. Water is an inert, inorganic substance with two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen molecule. It has no more life than a stone, some plastic or a wooden table. Before the wood was fashioned into a table it was a tree. All plant and animal life created by God is conscious on some level. However, an inanimate object does not have consciousness and to state that two hydrogen molecules and one oxygen molecule that have bonded now has consciousness is absurd and the claim has absolutely no scientific evidence to support it. The anthropopathic practice of assigning feelings or consciousness to inanimate objects has its roots in primitive cultures and has not been in vogue for thousands of years. Water does not think nor is it omniscient anymore than a plant is. Although a plant or animal is conscious, it is not sentient or does it have the ability of self-reflection. Only humans are sentient, which is a gift from God. As for water, when you consume it, you are not drinking anything that thinks.

The vortex effect of water spinning

It has been claimed that water spins from deep within the earth as it reaches the surface and there is no truth to this. It would be nearly impossible to prove that water actually spins as it rises to the surface. Victor Schauberger stated that nature creates vortices as a result of a tremendous and sudden release of energy. A tornado is a good example of this. But water spinning as it rises toward the surface of the earth is unfounded and improvable. It’s another idea that has been invented out of thin air.

Does Water self replicate?

It has been stated that water has the ability of self-replication. Inorganic substances cannot self-replicate or self-reproduce themselves. Living cells are capable of self-replication through mitosis or meiosis. As with regards to whether water is conscious, it is inert and therefore incapable of self-replication. Water is not a living thing.

The Best Drinking Water

Having clarified some of the issues regarding spring water the question remains which water is the best water to consume. That would be Ionized Water of which I have researched and written about extensively since 1996. I have done so because there is nothing more important for the body than water and quite often people recommend the wrong kind of water to drink, such as purified water. Ionized Water has two powerful antioxidant qualities, a negative ORP which reduces oxidation of the body and it is a free radical scavenger because it contains an abundance of electrons. It is alkaline and therefore helps balance the body’s pH. It also has smaller water molecules which penetrate bodily cells and tissue and hydrates them more efficiently than conventional water. This also pushes out substances that don’t belong in the body and are potentially harmful which we call toxins. It is quite an eye-opener and a cautionary tale about the future of the world’s fresh water supply.

HR 2749 - We dodged a Bullet - but . . .

. . . more bullets are coming. That I can guaranty.

The vote took place on July 31, 2009. This vote was very secretive and only was announced at the last minute. Isn't it great that our legislators in Washington suprise us with major legislation at the last minute for a Suspension of the Rules. It makes me sick. Especially when legislators vote in favor of something that you trust they won't because they say they won't.

H.R. 2749, the Food Safety Enhancement Act failed to garner the necessary 2/3s vote of members voting and present in favor of the bill,which is required when legislation is brought to the House floor for a vote under the Suspension of the Rules. See if your congressman voted for it. Supporters are below. My congressman, Mike Rogers (R - Michigan), voted for it. He is suppose to be a conservative against the expansion of government. That is what he "appears" to be, but obviously he is not. Anyone who read this bill would know about what a huge power grab it is by the FDA. The bill is sponsored by left-wing democrats who want apparently want the government in control of everything, including our food supply. Give it time, they will re-introduce it.

HR 2749 - Lose Control of Our Food Supply

HR 2749 - The Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 (FSEA)


ALARMING PROVISIONS:
1.
GEOGRAPHIC QUARANTINE HR 2749 would give FDA the power to order a quarantine of a geographic area, including "prohibiting or restricting the movement of food or of any vehicle being used or that has been used to transport or hold such food within the geographic area." Under this provision, farmers markets and local food sources could be shut down, even if they are not the source of the contamination. The agency can halt all movement of all food in a geographic area.
2.
WARRANTLESS SEARCHES HR 2749 would empower FDA to make warrantless searches of the business records of small farmers and local food producers, without any evidence whatsoever that there has been a violation. Even farmers selling direct to consumers would have to provide the federal government with records on where they buy supplies, how they raise their crops, and a list of customers.
3.
TRACING SYSTEM HR 2749 charges the Secretary of Health and Human Services with establishing a tracing system for food. Each "person who produces, manufactures, processes, packs, transports, or holds such food" would have to "maintain the full pedigree of the origin and previous distribution history of the food," and "establish and maintain a system for tracing the food that is interoperable with the systems established and maintained by other such persons." The bill does not explain how far the traceback will extend or how it will be done for multi-ingredient foods. With all these ambiguities, it's far from clear how much it will cost either the farmers or the taxpayers.
4.
SEVERE PENALTIES HR 2749 creates severe criminal and civil penalties, including prison terms of up to 10 years and/or fines of up to a total of $100,000 for individuals.
5.
REGISTRATION FEE HR 2749 would impose an annual registration fee of $500 on any "facility" that holds, processes, or manufactures food. Although "farms" are exempt, the agency has defined "farm" narrowly. And people making foods such as lacto-fermented vegetables, cheeses, or breads would be required to register and pay the fee, which could drive beginning and small producers out of business during difficult economic times.
6.
CROP REGULATION HR 2749 would empower FDA to regulate how crops are raised and harvested. It puts the federal government right on the farm, dictating to our farmers.




The Food Safety Bill from Hell - HR 2749

They are coming after our food supply now. Don't think so? Let's examine some of the provisions of The HR 2749 - The Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 (FSEA) which is based on the CODEX Alimentarius. When it was a draft, it was Rep. Henry Waxman’s bill. But once given a number, it became John Dingel’s who already had a “food safety” bill, HR 759. So Waxman got none and Dingel got two. (Was this because Waxman, being Jewish, was a hideous choice to introduce a bill with Codex in it – designed by the Nazi pharmaceutical companies that funded Hitler, provided the gas for the gas chambers, experimented on prisoners with vaccines – and was expected to kill millions.)

The FSEA would require facilities to register annually [section 101(b)(1)–p. 3], rather than a one-time registration. Registrants would also be required to pay an annual fee of $500, to be adjusted for inflation [section 101, Part6, sec 743(b)(1)(A)–p. 10]. This would include anyone selling food at a farmer's market. Take $500 of your profit and give it to the federal government.

It would also give power to the government to:
* Power to Quarantine a Geographic Area; the FDA can also Halt All Movement of All Food in a geographic area.
* Warrantless Searches of Business Records.
* Establishing a Tracing System for Food.
* Severe Criminal and Civil Penalties.
* Annual Registration Fee ($500 for 2010).
* Regulation of How Crops Are Raised and Harvested.

HR 2749 and the Codex - The House Bill from Hell

Here are some of the components of the new bill that has been placed in front of congress for a vote. We could lose control of our food supply if it passes.


* All nutrients (vitamins and minerals) are to be considered toxins/poisons and are to be removed from all food because Codex prohibits the use of nutrients to “prevent, treat or cure any condition or disease”

* All food (including organic) is to be irradiated, removing all toxic nutrients from food (unless eaten locally and raw).

* Nutrients allowed will be limited to a Positive List developed by Codex which will include such beneficial nutrients like Fluoride (3.8 mg daily) developed from environmental waste. All other nutrients will be prohibited nationally and internationally to all Codex-compliant countries.

* All nutrients (e.g., CoQ10, Vitamins A, B, C, D, Zinc and Magnesium) that have any positive health impact on the body will be deemed illegal under Codex and are to be reduced to amounts negligible to humans’ health.

Food Safety Bill HR 2749

Because the bill's provisions concerning food safety and FDA's scope of power concerning enforcement are so vaguely worded in this bill, it creates potential for the unchecked abuse of power by FDA and the incongruous application and enforcement of regulations.

- HR 2749 will require the mandatory imposition of annual registration fees in the amount of $500 upon any "facility" that holds, processes, or manufactures food. Even though "farms" are exempt, the bill's definition of "farm" is so scarcely defined that folks selling cheeses, breads, and other products from their farms or at the farmers market would be required to pay this fee, potentially driving many small producers and start-ups out of business, especially during tough times.

  1. Soft drinks steal water from the body. They work very much like a diuretic which takes away more water than it provides to the body. Just to process the high levels of sugar in soft drinks steals a considerable amount of water from the body. To replace the water stolen by soft drinks, you need to drink 8-12 glasses of water for every one glass of soft drinks that you consume!
  2. Soft Drinks never quench your thirst, certainly not your body's need for water. Constantly denying your body an adequate amount can lead to Chronic Cellular Dehydration, a condition that weakens your body at the cellular level. This, in turn, can lead to a weakened immune system and a plethora of diseases.
  3. The elevated levels of phosphates in soft drinks leach vital minerals from your body. Soft Drinks are made with purified water that also leach vital minerals from your body. A severe lack of minerals can lead to Heart Disease (lack of magnesium), Osteoporosis (lack of calcium) and many other diseases. Most vitamins can not perform their function in the body without the presence of minerals.
  4. Soft Drinks can remove rust from a car bumper or other metal surfaces. Imagine what it's doing to your digestive tract as well as the rest of your body.
  5. The high amounts of sugar in Soft Drinks causes your pancreas to produce an abundance of insulin, which leads to a "sugar crash". Chronic elevation and depletion of sugar and insulin can lead to diabetes and other imbalance related diseases. This is particularly disruptive to growing children which can lead to life-long health problems.
  6. Soft Drinks severely interfere with digestion. Caffeine and high amounts of sugar virtually shut down the digestive process. That means your body is essentially taking in NO nutrients from the food you may have just eaten, even that eaten hours earlier. Consumed with french-fries which can take WEEKS to digest, there is arguably nothing worse a person can put in their body.
  7. Diet soft drinks contain Aspartame, which has been linked to depression, insomnia, neurological disease and a plethora of other illness. The FDA has received more than 10,000 consumer complaints about Aspartame, that's 80% of all complaints about food additives.
  8. Soft Drinks are EXTREMELY acidic, so much so that they can eat through the liner of an aluminum can and leach aluminum from the can if it sits on the shelf too long. Alzheimer patients who have been autopsied ALL have high levels of aluminum in their brains. Heavy metals in the body can lead to many neurological and other diseases.
  9. Soft Drinks are EXTREMELY acidic: The human body naturally exists at a pH of about 7.0. Soft Drinks have a pH of about 2.5, which means you are putting something into your body that is hundred of thousands of times more acidic that your body is! Diseases flourish in an acidic environment. Soft Drinks and other acidic food deposit acid waste in the body which accumulates over time in the joints and around the organs. For example, the Body pH of cancer or arthritis patients are always low. The sicker the person, the lower the Body pH.
  10. Soft Drinks are the WORST THING you can possibly put in your body. Don't even think of taking a sip of a Soft Drink when you are sick with a cold, flu or something worse. It will only make it that much harder for your body to fight the illness.

The Future of Food (does not look good)

The Future of Food. I recommend this documentary. It shows how our food supply has been compromised by major agri-business, in particular Monsanto. They have been able to patent seeds and cause problems throughout the world because of it. Discussed is the concept of gmo foods, which I refer to as frankenfoods. GMO foods tamper with nature to say the least. Any food label on produce on it that begins with an 8 is a GMO food. 4 is commerically grown and 9 is organically grown.

Becoming a Raw Foodist (Raw Foods)

To start on the road to Great Health, you don’t need to become a raw foodist. Rather, you simply need to start eating raw foods. After you have made them a small, but regular part of diet, you will begin to fall in love with them as I did, which is something I never thought would happen because I never cared for raw foods before I began eating them everyday. What is a Toxin? How do we remove them from the body?

A toxin is something that does not belong in the body. There are mild toxins and very serious toxins such as heavy metals. Toxins are what disease lives on; therefore if you are sick with any disease you know that you are toxic. And if you wish to be healthy again, you must rid your body of those toxins. It is important to check for the presence of heavy metals because they are the main cause of excessive free radical activity, which can cause damage to the healthy state of the body including depleting the body's immune system. Heavy metals are replete throughout our environment due to 300 years of industrialization. The U.S. pumps 40 million tons of mercury into the atmosphere every year through coal-burning power plants. Heavy metals are often found in people with cancer, fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis.

The ignorance of the cooked food diet.

Regardless of their age, anyone can have the body they had when they were in their twenties. At that age, most of us are physically and mentally in our prime. Physical decline is inevitable and starts in your thirties only if you are a cooked foodist. Physical decline only happens to a raw foodist if they never exercise and even then the decline will not lead to disease, but rather to physical atrophy.

Who is behind the Water Ionizer “Comparison” websites?

A plethora of websites have sprung up on the internet that do nothing but compare water ionizers that are sold by various companies. They are professionally done and easy to navigate. But who is behind these comparison sites? Why would anyone spend the money to produce a website that only compares water ionizers and doesn’t sell one themselves? The interesting thing is each of these “objective” websites has determined that a particular model or manufacturer is the best water ionizer on the market. I cannot say I have ever seen these types of comparison websites for any other product on the market. These “objective” websites are anything but what they appear to be. Any open and honest company or individual will allow you to see who they are by registering their website in their name.

There is a way to know if the website you are viewing is actually an objective third party or another water ionizer company deceptively promoting their own product while attempting to appear to be objective. To find out who owns a website search for them on Network Solutions at
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp. Type in any website and it will tell you who owns it and give their contact information. You will notice that all the “objective water ionizer review websites” are registered anonymously by proxy, meaning that they are registered through a third party. In short, they are hiding who they are because they are not being truthful about their identity. They are not in any way objective. The human body does not make mistakes.

The human body does not make mistakes. If provided with the right materials, it operates perfectly and the medical establishment instantly becomes obsolete in the treatment of chronic disease. Essentially, we are the architects of our own body. We sculpt it into the shape that we want it to be by exercising and putting foods in it that are either nutritious or harmful. If we are overweight and have health problems it is because our diet is comprised primarily of cooked foods, which never satisfy our hunger, thus we overeat.

Physicians do make mistakes. All doctors make Hippocrates’ promise to “First, do no harm.” However, the medical profession was the third leading cause of death in 2002.[i] The first and second causes of death were cancer and cardiovascular disease. 106,000 people died from the negative effects of pharmaceuticals;[ii] 80,000 people died from infections in hospitals;[iii] 20,000 people died from errors made while in the hospital;[iv] 12,000 died due to unnecessary surgery;[v] 7,000 died due to medication errors in hospitals.[vi] Going to see a doctor can be a dangerous proposition. You are 9000 times more likely to accidentally be killed by a doctor than by a gun.[vii] The alternative is making sure we don’t have to go to the doctor’s office or hospital in the first place.

Component 7: Develop a Positive Mental Attitude about your life

Once you achieve the level of physical health discussed in this book, what remains to complete the picture is cultivating a positive mental attitude, which will be enhanced by exploring your own spirituality. Great Health cannot be achieved without possessing a positive mental attitude. If your mind is against you, you don’t have a chance of being healthy or accomplishing the various goals you set for yourself. As we begin to put the right things in the body it becomes easier for the mind to motivate and inspire us, which is one of its central functions. With all this comes confidence and when confidence is combined with skill, you become unconquerable.

The mind is a critical component that can thwart our best efforts to be healthy. A negative attitude will drag the body down with it. Our mind and spirit have the final say in our health. A typically healthy body can be destroyed by disease if there is a breakdown in the human spirit. On the other hand, every function of the body is greatly enhanced when the mind and Spirit are focused together on the same affirmative goal of staying healthy and living to the best of our ability. We need to exercise the spirit the way we exercise the body, consistently, habitually and with determined purpose. Undoubtedly, great confidence will follow.

Component 6: Begin exercising each day

There is no substitute for vigorous exercise and it is essential we do it daily if Great Health is our goal. As with everything concerning health, consistency is obligatory if you expect to succeed. In the absence of strength and numbers, wars have been won by nothing more than an army’s determination, purpose and persistence.

It is important that we exercise to the point of perspiring and deep-breathing for at least fifteen minutes each day in order to work our cardiovascular system. Sustained diaphoretic breathing invigorates and strains every bodily organ to some degree. Cardiovascular exercise causes oxygen-rich blood to race through our arteries, cleansing everything it comes in contact with. Regular exercise speeds up brain activity and decision-making.

Only a raw foodist has the ability to Achieve Great Health, perfect health, the kind of health most people only dream of. If you remain on a cooked-food diet, you will never truly be healthy even though the outward symptoms of disease may not manifest themselves for years to come. Disease always resides in the body of the cooked foodist whether the symptoms are there or not.

Everyone wants to be healthy. No one wants to be sick or even divulge they ever get sick. Sadly, most will remain sick because of their refusal to leave the cooked-food world behind and start putting in their body what naturally belongs in it, that which can only make them healthy. Only what comes from nature will ever make us healthy. There is no substitute for nature because it is God’s ever-moving hand. And no matter what man creates to try and make himself healthy, it will only end in failure. God’s temple can only be properly served and maintained by the raw foods that are produced by God’s creation, that which we call nature.

Minerals are among the most important nutrients required by the body. They are directly and indirectly involved in every bodily process. Along with amino acids (protein), minerals are the basic building blocks of every cell in the body. Most of the physiological processes of the human body cannot occur without the presence of minerals. Probiotics are critical to human health. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a friendly bacterium necessary for the digestion of proteins. It also reduces fungus infections, lowers blood cholesterol, aids general digestion and enhances nutrient absorption. Deficiencies may result in constipation, bloating, intestinal toxicity, gas, bad breath, Candida, mold and fungal infections.

Probiotics create vitamins in the body. Bifobacterium bifidium is key for the synthesis of vitamins K and the B vitamins, including vitamin B12. Deficiency of Bifobacterium bifidium can cause constipation, gas and elevated levels of ammonia from protein digestion, which can lead to liver toxicity. A high level of ammonia in the blood stream decreases appetite and leads to nausea and vomiting. Probiotics are commonly used in the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver and hepatitis. Bifobacterium bifidium can be used as a douche to fight yeast infections, or as an enema to fight harmful bacteria and improve bowel function, but it should also be taken orally. If someone has bad breath, it means the food they ate is rotting in the digestive tract and not actually being digested. Seven Components of Great Health - No. 2: Spirulina and Chlorella


Component 2: Introduce Spirulina and Chlorella to your diet

The most powerful foods on earth are Spirulina Pacifica and Chlorella Pyrenoidosa. They compliment one another in many ways because they are completely different foods with different nutrients. Spirulina is an extremely pure food, 95% digestible, extremely high in the Vitamin B-complex, iron, calcium and essential fatty acids such as Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which is excellent for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or bursitis. Spirulina is an excellent food to consume before a workout because of the explosive energy it provides to the body.

Chlorella has incredible anti-cancer properties. Its unique fiber is great for the digestion, as well as heavy metal and synthetic toxin removal. It has large amounts of nucleic acids (RNA/DNA), which, along with amino acids (protein), are the building blocks of our cells. Chlorella can even be used topically on cuts, scrapes, infections, even serious wounds, as can Spirulina.

The second step in Achieving Great Health is to add these superfoods to your diet. Start slowly, gradually increasing them until you reach a dosage of at least eight grams of each daily. (See Appendix: Spirulina, Chlorella & Water Dosages.) You can never consume too much Spirulina and Chlorella as long as they are raw and their enzymes are intact. As you increase your dosage, gradually reduce your intake of protein from traditional sources, such as meat fish, eggs, soy and dairy products. Algae is best consumed with each meal because of its high protein content, the highest percentage of any foods known with 18 different amino acids that are in the proper ratio to one another. Protein must be consumed with everything you eat for proper digestion and nutrient absorption. Most vegetarians lack sufficient protein in their diet.

Great Health will be nearly impossible to achieve without these two powerful whole foods at the center of your diet.

Component 1: Start drinking ionized water consistently

You need to hydrate your body because there is nothing more important regarding human health than a properly hydrated body, which translates into sufficiently hydrated cells throughout the body. If the body’s cells are not healthy, we cannot be healthy. Cellular health equals human health.

Ionized Water has four qualities that are perfect for the body’s health: Antioxidant, Alkalinity, Hydration and Detoxification. Start slowly and increase the potency of the Ionized Water you consume until you are drinking 1.5 – 2 gallons per day. Drink it all day except around mealtime. An extra trip or two to the bathroom is an extraordinarily cheap price to pay for your most precious possession: your health. You are the only person who can consume enough water to start on the road back to the health you were born with, that which God intended you to have, not the body you have transformed it into from a lifetime of eating primarily dead foods that are acidic, dehydrating and void of any rejuvenating properties.

Hydration is the first step toward reversing chronic illnesses and strengthening the immune system. It is our first defense against disease and the very keystone of human health.

Rice also tends to cause a lot of gas, which is created mainly in the large intestines and is the result of undigested starchy carbohydrates. Foods that cause these problems become their own reason for removing them from your diet.I slowly removed rice from my diet over the course of several months until I was eating it only once a week.

The First Steps toward Becoming a Raw Foodist - Pt 4

The next step would be to begin cooking your vegetables less and less, whether it is steaming, frying or baking. Start by steaming them only half the time your normally do, then reduce the time until you are merely warming them. If you keep the temperature of the vegetables below 105°F, you will not destroy the enzymes and other chemical nutrients in the food. Any raw food can be raised to a temperature of 105°F without the fear of damaging its nutritional potential. Many people miss warm food when first moving to the Raw-food Diet and if it makes you feel better to warm your food to 105°F or less, you should do it.

Juicing is another side door to the raw food lifestyle. Juicing is a world unto itself. The human body is essentially a juicer in the sense that it is the juice from plants that contains the nutrients that the body must extract. Anyone seeking to truly obtain Great Health must include juicing as part of their daily protocol. There are many types of juicers. Most separate the juice from the fiber, a valuable and necessary part of the food. Other juicers grind up the entire food, including the fiber. These are preferable. (to be continued . . . )

This monumental task that you have placed before yourself of changing a lifelong belief system must be done first in baby-steps that become bigger steps that turn in to leaps as your body cries louder each day for raw foods. Your reward will be perfect health and a disease free body when the transition is complete. Your body will punish you when you sometimes stray and revert to your old deadly cooked-food ways. It is tough love because your body knows what is right. The more you consume raw foods, the more traumatic this punishment becomes as you realize once and for all what poison cooked foods really are.

Another important step we can make is to begin moving away from pre-packaged processed foods to fresh cooked foods. It helps bring us out of the repetitious habit of our daily lives that shackles us to the cooked world. It is merely habit to come home tired and look for something easy to prepare for dinner. There is nothing easier than something that is already prepared and simply needs to be heated. Of course the ultimate fast food is a raw food because it is immediately ready to eat at any time. Another approach is to start eating a salad with each meal. Increase the size of the salad you have each day by 2% and shrink the amount of cooked foods you eat by a corresponding amount. Following through with this will leave you a 100% raw foodist in less than 50 days.

Another transition is to introduce dehydrated foods to your diet, foods that have had the moisture removed from them. They can be made into incredible raw food dishes such as sprouted bread, pizza, caramel apples, potato chips and many others, all of them raw and healthy. While dehydrated foods are not as healthy as fresh raw foods, they are the next best thing. They are an excellent transition food, but ultimately our goal is to consume 100% fresh raw foods. The First Steps toward Becoming a Raw Foodist - Part 1


I have found it useful to stop thinking about meals in the rigid way we traditionally regard them. We are conditioned to build our day around three meals when instead we should only eat when we are hungry. Your body will crave cooked foods less and less when it is provided with raw nutrients at a cellular level. The constant companion of hunger will leave you. We do not need the three meals we are accustomed to, rather, that is programmed into us, which is a central component of the obesity problem today. We look at a clock to know if it’s time to eat instead of our stomachs.

We need to break our pattern and start thinking outside the norms we are accustomed to when it comes to food. When we eat only when we are hungry, we begin to view food as a supply of nutrients we require to be healthy, not as something we need to do at a certain time of the day so our stomachs are always full.

An easy way to begin is by increasing the percentage of raw foods in your diet while shrinking the size of the cooked foods you consume. The concept is simple. Begin the process with breakfast and carry that sentiment throughout the day. Start by adding a banana or apple to your cereal, for instance. Increase the portion of fruit in the cereal each day without increasing how much you eat; this means that the milk and cereal portion will decrease. Within a short time, you will have transitioned to an all fruit breakfast. If it is complemented with 4 -- 6 grams of Spirulina and Chlorella, you will be meeting all your basic nutritional needs and then some. Your mornings will be full of energy when you eat this way. I am able to run six minute miles as I did when I was in my twenties because I have the body I had when I was in my twenties at a cellular level . I am in the best shape of my life, including my college days of track and cross country, although I don't train as hard as I did back then. (to be continued . . . )

I am not a formally trained medical, health or nutritional professional in any way. What I know of health is what I have read, experienced and spoken with others about. I offer on this website no medical advice, but rather guidance and ruminations about health. The reason I know almost nothing about medicine is because medicine does not lead to health. Bob McCauley's Story of Great Health - Pt. 3

I became first a lacto-vegetarian, then vegan and now a raw-food vegan. Many people change to the raw lifestyle because of a health challenge, but I am not one of them. I slowly changed to the raw food lifestyle and now feel as healthy as I did when I was in my twenties.
Over the last six years I have learned that the body can cure itself of any disease. Therefore, if you are sick, it is because you allow yourself to remain sick. It is not the foods we eat, but rather what the body does with the nutrients from those foods that it uses to heal itself. The source of all disease comes from our diet.

I am the author of three books on health. My first book, Confessions of a Body Builder, is the only book explaining ionized water for the layman. The second one, Achieving Great Health in 90 Days or Less, first published in 2005 outlines my entire health protocol. My most recent book, The Miraculous Properties of Ionized Water was published in 2006. It is the only book written exclusively on the topic of Ionized Water. (to be continuted . . . )

I was a vegetarian for 18 years before I discovered Spirulina and Chlorella . I became a vegetarian while traveling through India in 1980 and always considered myself to be quite healthy. Becoming a cooked-food vegetarian is a small step toward health. Becoming a raw foodist is ten giant leaps. People take tiny steps toward health, which is good, but they wonder why they still get sick.


Around that same time I was introduced to Ionized Water. See my article on Ionized Water. I immediately realized that here was one of the most incredible things I had ever seen in my life. There is nothing more important for the body than water and there is no better water than Ionized Water. No other water even comes close. The first line of defense against disease is a properly hydrated body. Learning that and discovering Ionized Water are the best lessons I have ever learned about health. (to be continued . . . )

Bob McCauley's Story of Great Health

I got my first warning sign that I was heading for physical ruin in 1992 after a stressful move from New Jersey to Michigan. I became quite ill over a 12 hourperiod and had to be taken to the hospital. The stabbing pain in my side was likely a kidney or gall stone, but the doctors never determined exactly what the problem was. Then it happened again one year later. I was on the road to the demise of my health.

Back then, I was a lacto-vegetarian. I consumed dairy products, but no meat at all. Even though I'd lived on a meatless diet for 12 years, I had acidified my body and laid myself wide-open to disease. I was in my thirties and wondered how I could have lived without meat for so long and still get sick. I got at least one cold or flu annually. One year, I had a chronic cough that lasted six weeks and I was never so miserable in my life. I knew something was still missing in my health picture, but I didn't know what it was. I learned later that the foods I was eating were killing me because they were not raw. (to be continued . . . )

Enzymes and Raw Foods

We are born with a certain amount of enzymes in our body that will quickly be depleted if we do not continue to replace them by consuming raw foods. Enzymes are the bank account of our health and we must constantly make deposits in the account because the body makes a withdrawal each time it uses enzymes to function. If we do not replace these enzymes the bank account will become empty, looted of its ability that allows the body to function to its capacity.

Herbal Diuretics

Diuretics cause the kidneys to produce more urine. One of the common side effects of the body and often a potassium supplement is required for long-term use of a diuretic. The Importance of Minerals

Minerals are among the most important nutrients required by the body. They are directly and indirectly involved in every bodily process. Along with amino acids (protein), minerals are the basic building blocks of every cell in the body. Most of the physiological processes of the human body cannot occur without the presence of minerals. RNA/DNA, which are the blueprints to each cell, do not function properly without certain minerals. Amino acids cannot be created then formed into proteins, nor can they be absorbed and used by the body without minerals. The same is true for vitamins. While you may be consuming adequate amounts of vitamins, their effectiveness is diminished without the presence of the specific minerals the body requires. Enzymes will not form nor function properly without the minerals they require to do so. Minerals are the keys that allow the engine of our health to start. Without them, bodily processes and functions are greatly diminished.

When we stop to consider which is the greater temple, a community church or our body, it is easy to recognize that our body is a glorious work of God and a church is a simple man-made structure. The human body is comprised of an average of 90 trillion cells. We must be humble and know that science still understands little about God’s miraculous creation called the human body. It is arrogant, boastful or perhaps naive to think that we will ever know all there is to know about it. Every bodily system, organ and cell exists to perform a specific task. The more we learn about the human body and how it functions, the more we are awed by its complexity, functionality and cellular interdependence. It was once thought that each cell in the body operated independently from one another, but in recent years researchers have discovered that cells are constantly communicating with one another throughout the body and the breakdown of that communication is one of the first signs of disease. The more we study the enormously intricate mechanisms of the human body, the most complex organism known, the clearer it becomes that only divine involvement could have possibly created it because it becomes evermore evident that it is the result of a design and not that of random chance. And where there is a design, there must be a designer.

Ionized Water

In order to be healthy we need only do three things: Alkalize, hydrate and detoxify the body. If we accomplish this, we can prevent and even cure the body of any disease. All we need to know is how to achieve this. Ionized Water accomplishes all these things and much more. It alkalizes, hydrates and detoxifies the body more effectively than any other substance. No other water can accomplish this. Running normal tap water through a water ionizer creates a miracle that can help put your body into a position of health you never imagined you could achieve.

I start each day with a 16 oz. glass of Ionized Water, fresh out of the tap at a pH 9.5 – 9.9. Considering that we spend 6 – 8 hours each night sleeping, the first thing we should do upon waking in the morning is drink a big glass of water. After my first glass of Ionized Water, I draw another and drink it over the next 30 – 40 minutes. Therefore, each day I consume one liter of water before I put anything else in my body.

Spirulina and Chlorella

The most powerful foods on earth are Spirulina Platenis and Chlorella Pyrenoidosa. They complement one another in many ways because they are completely different foods with different nutrients. Spirulina is an extremely pure food, 95% digestible, extremely high in the Vitamin B-complex, iron, calcium and essential fatty acids such as Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which is excellent for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or bursitis. Spirulina is an excellent food to consume before a workout because of the explosive energy it provides to the body.
I take both Spirulina and Chlorella in tablet form for convenience. Neither of them tastes good, although some people don’t mind them. They are not culinary delicacies, but rather the most powerful foods in the world. It’s easy to grab a handful of tablets and pop them down either with a meal or when I’m feeling a little tired.
